About Us

After years of working with clients and friends in wheelchairs who have been injured and then losing a friend in a wheelchair roadway crossing accident, Todd Foreman set out to do something to protect people who use wheelchairs.

As he approached other missions in his life as a retired military officer, he focused on the essential purpose and then methodically went to work on developing a course of action while at the same time, motivating others to take an active role. Volunteers and those who donate are essential parts of what we do in accomplishing our non-profit mission.

  • As Executive Director and Founder, Todd is a West Point Graduate from Alabama who served over 20 years as an Infantry Officer, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. He led US soldiers, sailors and airmen, as well as foreign troops within NATO and the United Nations. His deployments included years in Korea, Haiti, Bosnia, Kosovo, Kuwait, and Iraq.

    Immediately following his military service, Todd served with the American Red Cross, San Antonio Area Chapter as the Director of Emergency Services, directing relief efforts across South Texas and nationally, including the World Trade Center in NYC during 9-11. Todd was then called back to government service as a Civil-Servant. For over a decade, he served as Program Manager of Public Information and Marketing for the Department of Defense with service throughout Europe, Latin America, Africa, Asia and the Middle East including long deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

    Following his government service, Todd was the Contract Program Manager for the US Army Exceptional Family Member Program where he led and managed 55 employees who provided quality, non-clinical case management services to over 70,000 Army Soldiers and families with significant disabilities at 36 DoD locations worldwide. For the past 10 years, he worked for Professional Contract Services, Inc., a nationally awarded non-profit as Operations Manager of the Community Employment Program where he and his team assisted over 1,000 adults with significant disabilities find and maintain rewarding employment in local communities across Texas.

    Todd enjoys running marathons, traveling, hanging-out with friends and family.

William Schneider

  • As Vice-President of the Board, Bill graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point, Class of 1981 (along with Todd). He was commissioned in the Infantry and served in the U.S. Army in Korea and the 10 the Special Forces Group (Airborne).  He retired from the Army after an injury in the line of duty and uses a wheelchair as a result.  He then worked as an Engineering Project Manager, designing and installing security systems for the Department of Defense.

    Bill graduated from the University of Maine School of Law and worked for many years as a prosecutor for the Maine Attorney General’s Office and the United States Attorney’s Office.  He was elected to the Maine Legislature as a Representative and served as Assistant Leader.  He was also elected to serve as the Attorney General of Maine and later appointed to be a Maine District Court Judge.  Bill went on to prosecute al Qaeda terrorists at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, as the Dispositions Chief of the Office of the Chief Prosecutor in the Military Commissions.

    He is now happily retired and lives in Durham, Maine, on his 200 year-old farm with his daughter, where he enjoys shooting, hunting, woodworking, gardening and growing bonsai trees.

  • Albert is a San Antonio, Texas native. He has given more than a thousand hours of his time as a volunteer at Morgan’s Multi-Assistance Center (MAC), providing “one-stop” support to people with disabilities, recently being honored as the very first Volunteer of the Year at the MAC. He also works as an Ambassador at Sea World and has held many jobs simultaneously in his life including: Six Flags over Texas, Cinemark Theater, Dollar General, and Morgan’s Wonderland, the world’s most “ultra-accessible” theme park, water park, and family camp. Albert enjoys wheelchair skiing in Breckinridge, Colorado and also repairing older model gumball and vending machines. His dream is to one day establish his own repair and resell business. Albert joins the American Wheelchair Safety Flags Board with the experience of knowing the dangers of negotiating traffic in public spaces, as he was recently hit in his wheelchair by a car in a parking lot.

  • As President and Co-Founder, Wendy is a communications and design professional with over 20 years of experience. She began her career as a director of public affairs for the Southeastern Public Radio Network, where she produced a daily program during Morning Edition. Wendy was appointed by the Mayor of Birmingham, Alabama to design the city’s first comprehensive website. She led assessments and design for websites in higher education, government, healthcare, international associations and non-profit organizations. She is also a former instructor of Graphic Design at the University of Alabama in Birmingham.

    Wendy graduated from Auburn University with a BA in Communications and later moved to San Francisco where she earned an MFA in Computer UX Design from the Academy of Art. She is foodie and loves trying new recipes and enjoys outdoor photography.
